On 7 June, Igor Artamonov, Acting Governor of the Lipetsk Region, met Renée Jones-Bos, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Russia, on the margins of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. Shortly before, the Dutch delegation visited the Lipetsk Region on a business tour, and Ms. Jones-Bos expressed a wish to grow cooperation with the region.
At the meeting, the parties shared their opinions following the visit and discussed the opportunities for developing cooperation in the areas that look attractive for the Dutch business, such as livestock breeding, poultry, greenhouse crops, feed production and others.
Along with agricultural cooperation, the Lipetsk Region can also provide businesses with industrial sites having ready-made infrastructure. The region has already been delivering investment projects with Dutch involvement for several years. A good example is Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha, a French fries production facility opened in 2018 as a joint venture of Russia’s Belaya Dacha and the Netherlands’ Lamb Weston / Meijer, with RUB 10 billion invested in the project.
TRIOTT Lipetsk, which operates in the region, is a subsidiary of the Dutch-based TRIOTT B.V., a globally known manufacturer of grain processing equipment.
AKZO NOBEL COATINGS produces coating for coil stock and packaging in Lipetsk, with investments in the company totaling RUB 1 billion.
In 2017, LZTK, a greenhouse structures plant built with the Dutch input, was opened in the Lipetsk SEZ. The facility uses technologies of KGP Greenhouses, a global leader in greenhouse equipment production, to manufacture modern heating systems, screens, irrigation systems, equipment for crop sorting and packing, and plant control systems.
The Netherlands is a sustainable foreign economic partner of the Lipetsk Region. In 2018, the trade turnover between the Lipetsk Region and the Netherlands amounted to USD 75 million. Exports to the country reached almost USD 10 million and consisted mostly of agricultural produce (grain and feeds) and oil products. Imports to the Lipetsk Region from the Netherlands amounted to USD 65 million and comprised plastics, foods and mechanical engineering products.
