Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha Plant Motivates Growers to Increase Potato Yields

On 4 August 2018, Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha went ahead with the processing of this season’s potato crop. Every day the plant receives 600 tons of potato grown in the Lipetsk, Astrakhan and Bryansk Regions and Stavropol Krai.

Among its suppliers are reputable farms such as Agro Lipetsk (Lipetsk Region), Agroinvest (Stavropol Krai), Putsko Farm (Bryansk Region) and Individual Entrepreneur Pavel Androsov (Astrakhan Region).

With a threefold increase in deliveries against the previous year, Agro Lipetsk and Putsko Farm created many new jobs.

Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha also signed a three-year contract with Aurora Agro Holding (Lipetsk Region), which will establish a new potato division in the Zadonsk District.

Cooperation between LWBD and local farms contributes to potato yield growth even in adverse conditions through a win-win partnership and advanced growing practices. For example, Innovator and Challenger potato varieties produce 58 tons of yield per hectare.

According to Sergey Marchenko, Development Manager of Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha, the plant has enough production capacity to process the 2018 yield. “And Russian consumers will get a high quality product!” he said.

As our readers know, Lamb Weston Belaya Dacha is the largest French fries production facility built through a joint venture of the Russian Belaya Dacha Group and Lamb Weston/Meijer, a global leader in potato processing. The investments in the plant totaled nearly RUB 8.7 billion, with 231 new jobs created.
