GFZs of the Year is released every October by fDi Magazine (a publication by The Financial Times). The award identifies and acknowledges the most promising free economic zones internationally.
This year the site was recognized as the Free Zone of the Year for Expansions and Tax Reforms.
“Lipetsk SEZ is particularly honoured to be named Free Zone of the Year for Expansions” – said SEZ CEO Ivan Koshelev – “because the award celebrates the recent and very promising trend of our project – large global groups going for further increasing investments, extending initial production capacities and product lines. It is a most encouraging experience to be witnessing how sound investment environment in Lipetsk Special Economic Zone facilitates such major companies as ABB, Schlumberger, Bekaert, Honeywell, OBO Bettermann and many more to consolidate their market positions and improve their performance worldwide.”
GFZ of the Year for Tax Reforms was awarded to Lipetsk SEZ for bringing local customs officials and tax inspection authorities together to create a task force, whose primary aim was to resolve conflicts in VAT calculations for some zone tenants.
It is the 3d time Lipetsk SEZ has won fDi GFZs of the Year prizes. Back in 2014 the site received Best for Large Tenants in Europe. Then in 2016 it was commended for New Investments and Support of Education and Training.
