On 2 April 2019, OBO Bettermann’s President Ulrich Bettermann told Igor Artamonov, Acting Governor of the Lipetsk Region, about his decision to invest EUR 20 million in expansion of the company’s production facility operating in the Lipetsk SEZ. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Governor Dmitry Averov, General Director of the Lipetsk SEZ Ivan Koshelev, and heads of regional government bodies.
Igor Artamonov, Acting Governor of the Lipetsk Region, and Mr. Bettermann discussed prospects of the company’s development and reached an agreement over the expansion of OBO Bettermann’s operations in the Lipetsk Region. According to the decision taken, the company will build a galvanizing shop and the largest logistics center in the Lipetsk SEZ.
As you probably know, OBO Bettermann officially launched its new production site in Lipetsk (Russia) in September 2016 to manufacture cable support, lightning protection and fastening systems. The new production facility is the Group's ninth manufacturing site globally. Total investments in the project exceeded RUB 2 billion. OBO Bettermann’s President Ulrich Bettermann noted during the inauguration ceremony that, despite the global and Russian economic crises and stagnation of hydrocarbon prices, Russia changed its tack from a resource-based economy to high-tech industries and knowledge-driven economy. These factors and the growing demand for high quality electrical products and systems convinced the group’s management to expand its business globally. OBO Bettermann products are used in various industries, infrastructural projects, administrative, residential and recreational facilities, as well as in the refurbishment of cultural heritage sites. The products manufactured in the Lipetsk SEZ will be distributed both on the local and global markets. Considering Russia’s strategic location, the group believes that the plant in Lipetsk has much potential to promote trade with Russia’s neighbors, including China.
