Up and running. A new plant has been launched in Lipetsk SEZ on 30 June 2015 to manufacture low-voltage enclosures.

On 30 June 2015 ABB Group celebrated its new plant opening in Lipetsk Special Economic Zone designed for production of switchgears and low-voltage enclosures.

ABB factory in Lipetsk became the only ABB facility in Russia built from scratch. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexander Tsybulskiy, Governor of the Lipetsk Region Oleg Korolev, President ABB Russia and CIS Alexander Popov, Head of the Lipetsk SEZ operating company Ivan Koshelev.

ABB has invested 600RUB bn. into building a plant 7000 sq.m. large, which is the starting point of the company ambitious program on setting up a power equipment cluster of 8 more factories. The capacity of the newly launched factory is 200 000 units per year. Over 80% of components supply is localized. The equipment is going to be shipped to consumers in Russia, Belarus, Central Asia, Eastern Europe and other regions. Localizing production will allow ABB Group to minimize delivery terms and be more sensitive to the ever-changing market expectations.

During the opening event the company top management introduced the new global ABB strategy - NEXT LEVEL.

“Competitive advantages are unique here for investments into technology-intensive production. Today’s opening is a big milestone for even greater future growth which would contribute considerably to ABB advancement in Russia”, Alexander Popov - ABB Russia President - said in his ceremonial speech.
